Fall bucket list experiences across Canada.
We’ve said goodbye to summer…a little bit begrudgingly maybe. This doesn’t mean we can’t get outside, have fun and try something new and unique. Why not try something new before winter is upon us? We’ve put together a list of some fun things to do across Canada to shake up your fall. Surprise someone close to you with one of these fun experience gift ideas.
We think we know the city we live in but there is always a dark intriguing side that rarely gets talked about. Forbidden Vancouver’s guides will take you on a walking tour that will bring you back to a time when Vancouver was a violent town, riddled with hustlers, thieves, vagabonds and bawdy girls.
It’s Halloween time of year so grab a friend or two and experience the dark, seedy side of Vancouver’s history. Check out some of the tour reviews.
2. Brewery Tour
If you consider yourself an aficionado of craft beer (or you just love to try different beers) a brewery tour, with someone else leading the way, may be a great way to spend a Saturday in November. Ottawa’s Brew Donkey will take you on an escorted tour of 3 Ottawa region breweries. With a variety of tours to choose from, you can do the tour weekend after weekend and see (and sample) new breweries each time.
Now if you are in Toronto, “Beer Makes History Better Tour” with Toronto Urban Adventures is a must do. Spending an afternoon discovering three unique pubs and learning some cool history along the way is not how I learned history in high school. Beer and history together…this is so much better!
For those of you way over on the other side of our great beer drinking country (the aussies think they rule but we can hold our own on the craft beer scene!), Off The Eaten Track’s Victoria Craft Beer & Culinary Tour includes 9+ samples of Victoria craft beers from four brew pubs along Victoria’s historic, beautiful inner harbour.
Continuing along the lines of alcohol and the paranormal: Distillery District Segway Haunted Tour. Experience a guided tour of Toronto’s Distillery District, home of the historic Gooderham & Worts distillery BY SEGWAY and be entertained with tales of ghosts and abnormal occurrences in one of Toronto’s most incredible neighbourhoods.
Alcohol isn’t served on this tour…drinking and Segway driving…look out…but after the tour you won’t have to look too hard to find a spot for a drink and bite to eat. The Distillery District has lots of cool spots for you to choose from.
Now for you Edmontonians (did I get that right?), River Valley Adventure Company has a really cool Segway Tour along the Edmonton River Valley. This tour runs all year long although fall would be beautiful time to Segwaying through the park.
4. Paintball Adventure
The air is crisp and the leaves are covering the ground…a perfect environment to lock, load and shoot your way out of a mock prison, an Egyptian pharaoh’s tomb or repel and jungle attack. Fall is an awesome time to grab a group of friends and engage in paintball battles in some really cool game settings. 500 paint balls, a semi-automatic paintball gun and body armor. What more do you need for an adrenaline filled fall day of action. Rally the troops and storm the Delta Force Paintball fields in Toronto (Barrie), Vancouver and Edmonton!
So let’s add some more reality to your video games. Wasaga Beach Paintball (just over an hour north of Toronto), will get you off the couch and into the game. With a gun that fires a harmless infrared beam, similar to ones used in a TV-remote control, you can sneak up on your enemy and make the shot for a victorious end to your battle! The great part is that you can choose between battling out on 13 fields over 70 acres outdoors or indoors on a 25,000 sq ft playing area.
6. Hang tight for an off-road Hummer ride!
Another adventurous way to spend a fall day is to head up to Collingwood, about an hour and 15 minutes north of Toronto, and hop on board Xtreme Adventures Offroad Scenic Hummer Adventure. Up to 9 of you can hang on as the H1 Hummer hits steep angles, crawls through mud and over rock.
So there you go, our picks for fun things you can do this fall! Which ones are you going to do? Are any of these on your bucket list? Or is it somone’s birthday in November? Create a memory and give an experience for a gift!
